Red River Hogs are found in forest regions of Central and Western Africa, they have a great sense of smell, using a circular motion with their snouts while sniffing around for food. In the wild they live in “sounders” of 6 to 20 animals and the females have litters of between 3 to 6 hoglets.
The Aspinall Foundation hope to boost numbers of red river hogs in The Batéké Plateau National Park through reintroductions as part of their Megafauna Project.
